Sustainability is not a section of our business plan. It is the operating philosophy behind every factory we choose, every material we source, and every supply chain decision we make.
We chose to build sustainability into Alishba’s operating model from the beginning—
not as a response to buyer pressure, but because we believe the companies that
will lead the next decade of apparel trade are those who take this responsibility
seriously now.

Each pillar represents a domain where Alishba has built specific
capabilities, programmes, and factory partnerships — not policies
on paper, but systems in practice.
We prioritise factories that have invested in renewable energy infrastructure, monitor carbon emissions, and operate verified energy management systems. We track energy consumption data per factory and per order, giving buyers the data they need for Scope 3 emissions reporting.
Bangladesh’s garment sector has historically been one of the largest consumers of freshwater per unit produced. We require all wet-processing partner factories to operate Effluent Treatment Plants (ETPs), and we actively source from facilities committed to water-saving technologies including closed-loop dyeing systems.
The sustainability of a garment begins with its fibre. We have built a dedicated sourcing pathway for certified preferred materials — organic cotton, recycled polyester and nylon, lyocell, linen, and deadstock — all verified through recognised certification bodies. We do not accept greenwashing claims without documented certification.
We are building the infrastructure for circularity in our supply chain — from cutting waste reduction programmes in our partner factories to designing for disassembly guidance for buyer product teams. Our zero-to-landfill programme is currently active in 12 partner facilities, diverting fabric offcuts to upcycling partners.
Every certification below has been awarded by an independent third-party
body and is subject to annual audit. We make our audit reports available to
buyer partners on request.

Every component of OEKO-TEX 100-certified textiles — including threads, buttons, and prints — has been tested for harmful substances that are harmful to human health. A non-negotiable for many EU retail buyers.

Bluesign approval covers the responsible use of resources across chemistry, energy, water, and occupational health in textile manufacturing. Recognised by major outdoor and performance brands.

The Higg FEM measures factory-level environmental performance across energy, water, waste, and emissions. The FSLM covers social and labour conditions. We support factories through Higg self-assessment and third-party verification.
Independently Verified · Annual Audit
Validates the chain of custody of recycled input materials from pre- and post-consumer waste. Essential for brands making recycled content claims on product labelling and marketing.

As a CanopyStyle signatory, Alishba commits to sourcing viscose, modal, and lyocell exclusively from suppliers who do not source from ancient or endangered forests — protecting biodiversity at scale.
